May 15, 2011

Despite chilly temperatures, smiles were sunny as approximately 150 people participated in the 4th annual Walk For Life events on Saturday, May 7 in Grangeville to express their support for children and families, and raise funds for the Hope and Clearwater Valley Pregnancy & Life Skills Centers in Grangeville and Kamiah. The Walk began at the Grangeville City Park and ended with food, prizes, and a celebration at Grangeville High School.

The Walk For Life event raised more than $6,700 for the two Centers (so far - donations are still being received). The winners in the fundraising effort as of the day of the event were: 1st place - Greta Bruzas; 2nd place - Lester Downhour; 3rd - Shannon Fuchs; and 4th - Bonnie Roll. Another dozen participants won door prizes in the post-Walk drawings. Prizes were donated by the Blue Fox Theater, City of Grangeville Pool, Crema Café, Lindsley’s Home Furnishings, Potlatch Federal Credit Union, Subway, The Retreat on 3-Mile Creek, and The Wednesday Girls Quilting Club.

Event sponsors and supporters included Asker’s Harvest Foods, Avista, Cash & Carry Foods, Central Idaho Post, City of Grangeville, Clearwater Valley Harvest Foods, Gortsema Motors, Idaho County Light & Power, KORT, Les Schwab, and The Print Shop.
