Adoption can
be a Good Choice!
Statistics: Young, unmarried
women who make an adoption plan are more likely to subsequently
marry than those who choose single parenting. (Battelle, 1988)
Young, unmarried women who choose adoption consistently attain higher
levels of income and education than their peers who choose single
parenting. (Battelle, 1988)
Only 20% of unmarried
mothers receive child support from the child's father.
(Whitehead, 1993)
The Search Institute Study
of 1994 shows the positive outcomes for children who are adopted: 1. They have strong
feelings of security within their family. 2. They do extremely
well in school. 3. They attend college more often than the general
population. 4. They experience lower rates of crime and drug abuse.
5. They have a healthy sense of self-esteem and optimism.
Consider the option of
adoption: Adoption can be a courageous
and unselfish decision because you are putting the child's needs
above your own. You are making a plan for the child's future,
not "giving away" the child.
